Believe it or not a common root cause of being triggered and anxiously overthinking can be emotional wounds from childhood trauma. I would say that we all carry around at least some trauma from our childhoods and this is usually not a problem. However, if they are having an adverse affect on your emotional peace and quality of sleep then it might be a sign that they are crying out to be healed.
In my experience any number of events in our childhood stage that are not resolved or reassured very well have the potential to cause us to get stuck in fight, flight or freeze mode in later life. This can often cause angry outbursts or internalised anger which can then lead to anxious sensations and overthinking.
